Continuing its recent tradition of welcoming contemporary artists to the permanent collections, this year the works of Michal Korman will be displayed alongside those of Yves Brayer in the exhibition Contrepoint, which opens at the Museum on 14 March and runs until 11 November.
Michal Korman (1987) began his artistic training at the age of 5 in children’s classes given by the Slovak academic painter Jozef Jelenak.
In 2005, he manifested his specific style: a combination of graphic oil painting marked with his signature as a logotype.
Since then, he has continued to develop his personal style of traditional oil painting, using figurative motifs and graphics. This led to his first solo exhibition outside Slovakia in Brussels in 2009.
In 2016, he began working with what has since become his signature themes: plants and flowers. Michal lives and works in Paris.
